# llms.txt

> Generate and publish an llms.txt file so AI models understand your site's content and present your brand accurately.

`llms.txt` is an emerging standard that helps language models like ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini understand the content and structure of your website.

## Why add llms.txt

* Improves how AI identifies and presents your brand in generated answers.
* Provides structured context about your products and services to AI assistants.
* Increases your visibility in AI-assisted searches and recommendations.

## Create your llms.txt

<Steps>
  <Step title="Generate with AI">
    Open **Actions → llms.txt** and click **Generate with AI**. Cliro creates a suggested file for your brand.
    <Note>AI generation can be run once per brand. You can freely edit the result afterward.</Note>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Edit the content">
    Review the draft in the editor and make any changes. The file stays in **Suggested** status until you confirm it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm">
    Click **Confirm** to lock the content and enable downloading.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Download & publish">
    Download the file and upload it to the root of your site so it's reachable at `https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt`.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Verify publication">
    Click **Verify publication**. Cliro checks the live file and reports whether it's published and matches your confirmed content.
  </Step>

## Publication status

After verifying, you'll see one of:

| Status                          | Meaning                                                       |
| ------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Published and up to date**    | The live file matches your confirmed content.                 |
| **Published, content outdated** | A file exists but differs from your latest confirmed version. |
| **Not published**               | No file was found at your site's root.                        |
